I used to really be obsessed with the movie, lol. Looking back now I feel the love story was too cliche and contrived. But the film does manage to get across the enormity of the tragedy in a powerful way.

yeah i dont rully understand why they based the entire thing around a love story. when it was sinking and the ship broke in half, my heart almost stopped. and with all the people falling. it reminds me of all the videos i watched of people jumping from buildings during 9/11

Titanic did have similarities to 9/11, definitely.

One difference thoughI guess was that Titanic strictly enforced a rule of "Women and children first." Which does make sense, you do want to save the children and they need their mothers. But that meant so many fathers and husbands didn't make it. Of course if the "powers that be" had just done their jobs, it would never have happened.

Im not saying it was the best story, but what the story did do was make it more real to a generation who had forgotten. Remember, untill they found the wreck in the 1980's people had forgotten about it.

Oh yeah I think as far as the sinking, the movie did a good job getting the emotion across. That and the ending where Rose is reunited with everyone on board, I always find very touching.

yeah. it should ALWAYS be women and children first, for most things. but 9/11 was more of a jump out of a window, try to find your way out, or just sit an burn to death. i always thought about what i'd do in either situation, jump, or try and save myself. i mean, i rully wouldnt want to commit suicide, but if i had ab tter chance living by doing that, then i gues tahst what id choose. i would've been most afraid about living, and the rest of my family/friends died. that would kill me.

One really weird thing about 9/11 was the majority of survivours were the ones that left the towers last, after getting possesions or calling loved ones. They got to the exits after the inital rush, and got out in time.

i watched titanic yesterday. only movie that has almost made me cry. i was soooooo close to crying, but i didnt. my heart will go on is such a brutal song. they played it a million times throughout the movie, and it was rully sad. i have it on my ipod now and then when they were going through the water to find living people, they showed a mother floating in the water with her baby.
