Awe man. I kind of saw this posted earlier on facebook and I was like "what no way."
Didn't know he was also the voice of Mr. Ed. I've known him as Scrooge McDuck.
Very sad. Condolences.
He wasn't the voice of Mr. Ed, he played Wilbur, who owned Mr. Ed.

Ah, that's why I didn't know him as Mr. Ed. Because he wasn't. :S oops. Thanks for the correction.

He was also the voice of 7-Zark-7 on the Americanized "Battle of the Planets". Originally a Japanese anime series from 1972 (one of the first), they toned the violence waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy down, made it kid-friendly, and in the wake of Star Wars, created an R2-D2 knockoff, and Alan got the gig.

Come on, 96 is nothing to sneeze at.
