One of my dearest, dearest friends on the planet died; a number of people in our lives did very Weird and Uncool stuff that affected us directly, for no discernible reasons; it's been something else, things small, and of import, all added right up all week long.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. We just got word on Wednesday that my dad's first cousin, an Anglican priest in Canada who had just celebrated his 60th birthday, died of a heart attack on the subway. It was completely sudden and unexpected, and it's been a pretty rough week for the family. My dad and grandma are having an especially hard time dealing with it. One thing we're happy about, though, is that he finally got to come to our family reunion two years ago, so we all saw him then. So at least we were able to visit with him recently...
