I was browsing Sesame Street clips on Hulu today, and I noticed something. Almost every clip includes a season and episode number listed. There are some exceptions (the original Bein' Green, for example). The seasons appear to be accurate, but the numbers are obviously not. The episode numbers provided on the clips are never four-digit numbers, even on post-season 8 segments. I think (but don't remember for sure) that some season 1 segments were listed with nubmers higher than 130, while some season 2 and 3 segments are listed with two-digit numbers.

I know that the Sesame Street clips are officially uploaded by Sesame Workshop, so this stuff should be official. I don't know what the numbering system is. Sure, it could be listing epsiodes by what number of the season is (for example, the 40th episode of season five as s.5 ep. 40), but many of the numbers provided are higher than 130. I saw 8 as the highest starting number.

It seems like only a few seasons are incorrect. Of course it incorrectly lists the second season version of Rubber Duckie as being from season 1 (I don't know why Sesame Workshop makes this error), and Bud Luckey's "Country #5 Song" is incorrectly listed as being from season 1. Most Sesame Street News segments where Kermit wore a dark brown hat are listed as being from season 4, though the one where The Coutn counts the three little pigs is listed as being from season 5 (I think this is a mistake).
