Question about Cookie Monster

My friend is arguing with me that Cookie Monster has a pocket in his mouth where the cookies go to. I told him that the cookies are just crushed and come out of the mouth but he is certain he heard somewhere that there is a pocket in his mouth.

I'm certain I read somewhere that there is definately not a pocket and Cookie really does just crush them and they fall out.

Can somebody please provide me with some truth on this topic? :insatiable:

You're both right.

The Cookie Monster puppet has traditionally had a hole in the back of the mouth that cookies or other props could disappear down when eaten.

However it seems this feature has been dropped with some of the more recent Cookie Monster puppet builds (just a guess, but i'm thinking these days they probably have a "normal mouth Cookie" for general use and an alternate "hole mouth" Cookie for gags where it's really needed to see him eat something)
