My copy, taped from the South Florida PBS station (WXEL) in December 1987 is missing the tag, with Gordon and Susan coming home to find that the tree has been eaten by Cookie Monster. And when I say it's missing, I mean it's actually cut from the broadcast. My guess is they did this to make room for pledge drives, for it was taped during pledge season (immediately after the show fades out, it cuts to the usual person begging for the viewer to send money), but just out of curiosity...did anyone else's PBS station ever cut this little scene?

(Jeez, and there I was, thinking that PBS showed their programs uncut...)

Every time that I have seen this special, that seen was never cut out. It's one of my favorites by the way, and is a classic.

It's one of my favorites, too, but incredibly, I never knew it existed until nine years after my first viewing, when I bought a pre-recorded copy of it.

The first time I saw it was on CBC in Canada back the 70's when it first aired. I hadn't seen it since then until a few years ago when it aired on a PBS station I get on cable(I'm not sure which affiliate it is). But I do remember the tag was included in that airing.

I wasn't born yet when it first aired, so by default, I first saw it at a later time.

I didn't *see* it until 1989, but the tape of it that I watched then was from 1987.

It was on PBS a few years ago?????

I got the DVD last Christmas. And I got to see that ending scene with Cookie Monster in it. I also wondered if he ate all the presents under the tree too. I'd be sad if he did that.

Yeah, I recall my local TV statilon cut out that part. In fact, I don't think I knew about it until later on. Thank goodness for the video.
