Question about child forums

When you search for something,there is a box that says "Search Child Forums"

What are child forums??? I dont get it

You know how there are big forums ( Sesame Workshop, The Jim Henson Company) on the main page? The little ones ( like Classic Sesame and Classic Muppets) are children. Funny, aint it?
