Looking for toothy muppet...

Oh, boy...

I am not an especially big muppet fan, but I have a very sincere reason for being here. I have a blog about autism...Ben, my son, is 14 now and the absolute joy of my life!

But there's this thing about autism...It's like everybody freaks out when they hear their child has it. Hey, they're wired different, but made of the same stuff as all kids!

Well, anyhow...I'm trying to post on making our kids laugh...and I remember vividly Ben laughing for the first time (I mean split a gut laughing) at a sesame street character who had these huge white teeth when he was six months old. (The teeth were very oversized for his mouth, which was very wide.) I think maybe he had blonde hair, but not sure. He wasn't a monster, more like a muppet based on a human personality type. I've been through the Wikipedia list, somewhat haphazardly, and found nothing.

I know I've given you very little to go on...Oh, yes, this would have been in mid 1994 that he saw it. He has the same reaction to Monty Python today..........

Just taking a chance that someone would know...he may have only been on SS for one time, for all I know, and it would be impossible to find him. I grew up watching SS and he wasn't a regular character. It was a "he".

Oy, sorry...needle in a haystack and I'm probably dreaming it up...should check his baby book....

Rose:big_grin: (wasn't this character, either...)

Hi and welcome to Muppet Central. Is it possible you're refering to Sonny Friendly, originally performed/voiced by Richard Hunt?
Hope this helps and have fun exploring the rest of the forums.

Oh, Kathy! You're right! Actually, that could be the one, actually. And his hair is more "blonde" than Sonny Friendly's. I think those are the only two characters that really fit the description: blonde hair, oversized teeth, wide mouth). I also think a child is more apt to laugh hysterically at Harvey than they would Sonny. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out for sure.

Well... Given the timing of when this character was seen, I guessed Sonny Friendly. Though it could've been a repeat of an old Harvey Kneeslapper sketch.

Yeah, I had the same theory, Ed. But then again, we don't know when Rose watched the show cuz we don't know her age. Ah well...

Well... Actually, Rosebw is asking about a character her son saw when watching SST around mid-1994.
