Quest for a Kermit Wedding Ceremony

Hi All,

I am getting married in just over a year, and I am looking to make something incredibly special happen. I would like for the wedding ceremony to be performed by Kermit the Frog. My fiance and I are huge fans, and we are also performers. It will make for a memorable and beautiful event. Does anyone have any advice on how to get such a personal appearance to be granted? We would, of course, love an official performance, but we are not incredibly wealthy. (I mentioned we are both performers.) If there is another skilled professional puppeteer that could fit the bill, we would certainly consider that. The wedding is to take place in North Carolina's beautiful outer banks in May 2012. How can I make this dream wedding a reality?

Thanks for any input.

The first thing that popped into my mind was, I'm not sure whether a ceremony performed by a fictional character would be legally binding.

But my friend Paul had a creative solution for his wedding. His family wanted one person to do the ceremony, his wife wanted someone else.

So they secretly went to the courthouse a month early, got hitched, and then when the big ceremonial wedding rolled around, they got an actor to preside over the just-for-show vows.

I learned about the secret wedding about a year later (under the proviso that I not tell his family, who still think they attended the one and only ceremony)... this revelation came about when I mentioned to some friends how resolute he'd been when I'd asked him a week before the wedding whether he was he sure he wanted to get married.

I remember being impressed at the time with how convinced he seemed that she was the one. Duh, that's because he'd already taken the plunge!

By the way, isn't it ironic that you want an unreal minister for your wedding... when Kermit himself expected a fake one and got a real one instead?

two weddings!

Agreed: do it twice. Maybe go down to the county courthouse for the legalese stuff, then throw a big "wedding" and see if you can get someone (Frogpuppeteer maybe?) to "perform" the ceremony as Kermit for you.

My mother and stepdad were of different faiths, so they had two weddings; one which was more spiritually significant to them at a small ceremony in the mountains, and then the legal one in a church a week later. It's very doable.

That sounds amazing! Frogpuppeteer, could you send me a video sample of you performing as Kermit? Then, we can talk about more details. Thanks so much!

@Everyone else: We are having the legal portion courthouse style, so that the actual ceremony in front of our friends and family can be perfect. Thanks for all the input!

Bravo for you! Post pics of the "ceremony" later, if you would? I'd love to see them!
