hiya,
maybe i can help, cuz i've had a few recent puppets on Ebay with ostrich feathers sticking out of fur...its really simple just get one feather at a time - dip it in some craft glue, separate the fur and stick the feather in as far as possible and thats it.
simple hey - now go try it
cheers

Try an "arts and crafts" type store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Another place you might look is a place that carries Millnery (hat making supplies.) If worst comes to worst, get a plain old (clean) feather duster and pull the individual feathers.
Forget going to Michaels. They don't have what you are looking for.
There are tons of stores on Queen St. near Spandina. There is one store just West of Spadina (on Queen) that sells wedding crafts. It is on the North side of the street. Sorry I don't know the name of the store. It is between Spadina and the KFC (walk down Queen and you will know what I mean).
Another place that has is is a stor called MAC FAB. IT is also on Queen St. but it is just West of Bathurst St. It is also on the North corner and has a big green and white sign. They have the kind of feathers you are looking for.
I have one of the beautiful puppets by Keeermit and one of the many great things about it is that the hair is actually stripped Ostrich Feathers individually inserted into the fleece. They stand up nice and stiff, but wave in the breeze. It's a much better look than fur fabric, and I'm trying to figure out how it's done. Is there a special tool involved to insert each one? Are they glued in place?
