"I realized this show that the other characters were much more fun to do during the show and received more laughs as well."
Funny you say that, as when I did my first "puppet show" (non-paying birthday party for a good friend) I had an original character introduce each of my muppet puppets (mostly Fishers Price ones) and wrote a long winded post on here basically saying the same thing. For whatever reason, the kids seemed to enjoy the original guy more than Kermie and the rest of them (well Grover was a big hit, but he's pretty funny and they know him well from Sesame Street.)
It's still fun to throw in the muppets every once in a while. If you start out with a sesame street character and then use your own puppets, a lot of the kids will still think they're watching a muppet show. ha!
I'm still going to use the muppet puppets to greet the kids this year for my annual Muppet Halloween trick or treat show. (I cannot wait!) It wouldn't make as much sense, or may seem a little weird, if it were just a bunch of puppets they didn't know giving them candy when they come to the door. Well, that's what I'm thinking anyways. Most of the older kids think it's weird period!
