Yes, there were rumors for GOF back in the day to but they are back for Deathly Hallows. In more recent reports WB says no decision has been made for or against splitting of Deathly Hallows many have posted the news as fact.

Also Jo hereslef has said on her site 'It is simply impossible to incorporate every storyline into a film under four hours long'

I am not a Harry Potter fan but thought some people should know.

Any thoughts?

I don't think it is a rip off, the book is very very long. It's no wonder it has to be made into two...
I actually wish GOF had been made into two as well

I'm not a fan of the Potter films or book by any stretch, but I remember one of the last 2 films coming under critisism for being too short, and ommitting too much from the Book (yeah, well at least it wasn't changed around like Jurassic Park was :attitude: )

This seems to be a nice balance.

A friend of mine who is a big fan thinks it's pretty much confirmed. I don't mind either way, but it's good that they're trying to fit more of the story in the films. (Note: I love Harry Potter, just not as much as Lord of the Rings.)

Hi guys...

1 It has been confirmed that DH (Deathly Hallows) will be filmed and premiered as two individual movies.
2 As far as release...
a. They could release both movies at the same time and air them back-to-back. Unlikeliest possibility.
b. Release the first half one year, then release the second half the following year following the LOTR model. Most probable.
c. When premiering the second half/movie, they could then do the same thing the LOTR franchise did and then air both movies back-to-back in a one-day special event. High potential.
3 The movie you're all probably thinking of is GOF (Goblet of Fire) which got the chopped-up treatment.

After reading all seven books and watching/going to the five previous movies I still champion my campaign to have WB turn the Potter book franchise into an hourlong TV series to add to their primetime lineup. That way you can spend some more time showing us more of the goings-on that make the story more complete than what made it in the movie version.
*Shakes head... Oh well. *Disapparates by walking into the shadows.

Kind of disappointed David Yates is back on this. Not that he didnt do a good job on the 5th film, its just I was hoping for a Peter Jackson, Chris Nolan, Tim Burton type guy for the big finale...

Well... Problem is they'd all be booked around the time DH takes to filming. Peter Jackson will be overseeing the same two-film form of the Hobbit as Executive Producer. Tim Burton's got himself a deal with Dis to make at least two new Disney Digital 3-D movies, including a dark version of Alice in Wonderland currently shifted to 2010 which I'm looking forward to. And Chris Nolan who might be free by then would also more than likely be directing the third installment in the new Batman franchise.

Excellent now the big question is where is the split going to be in the story?
