Hey there

I had a questions about Portable Monitors, what would somebody suggest for portable monitors? like a portable dvd player and hook it up via a RCA feed to the video camera?

what is a good make for portable dvd players?

Is a poloroid 7" portable dvd good? or something by sony? panasonic?

or buy a professional video quality monitor?

PS: Another person emailed me about this also, that she said she is doing a music video, outdoors and wont have any power either, so a portable dvd player the best bet?

The best place to ask for filming tips and answers (although someone may know here as well) is here sonnyboo website

that probably could give you the most accurate answer

you should just get a cheap monitor if you can find one

Wal-Mart sells little TV sets (black and white) for about $30 with A/V inputs that can be used as a portable monitor. They run on D cell batteries, so invest in a charger and two or three sets of rechargable batteries for it.

It doesn't matter. You just need to be able to see what you are doing. In the olden days, we only had B&W monitors on the set.

A good place to look for this type of monitor is -- believe it or not -- the supermarket at Christmas time. I picked up 4 monitors like this for $19.95 apiece.

I haven't actually used them, yet, however... I gotta make a puppet movie!

I think colour is better if you can get them, but B&W works fine too if that's what you have to work with. I don't recommend using LCD screens (like the kind used in DVD players) if you're moving around a lot simply because it's difficult to see the screen properly at different angles.
