I have to admit that I haven't been watching SS lately, so I'm not "fur" sure how often Cookie and Grover are used. I do think I'd love to see lots of the old regulars return, though.
Unfortunately, some of the classic Muppets on SS will never be seen again, such as Don Music. (His head slamming down on his piano caused many copycats to do the same) Guy Smiley has been replaced with Sonny Friendly, Mumford has "Disappeared" (Pardon the pun) & old staple characters such as Grover, Bert, & Count Von Count have been reduced from heavy use in screen time, to bit parts, because they have been replaced by the newer generation of Muppets. (Elmo, Zoe & Rosita) It's a shame though, because kids of today will forget about the Sesame Street we grew up with & adults such as myself are hungry for the nostalgia. If CTW could only spin off a version of Sesame Street for the older kids or those who crave nostalgia, everyone could be happy. Like Sesame Revisited or something. It would be nice to see the older characters return with new material, as well as seeing the old stuff in the rotation, & to have the classic old shorts to be featured between sketches, just like they used to. Also, since SS is now aimed at a younger audience, it would be good to put out a version to educate the older children. SS Unpaved was not too popular with kids, but it was a hit with adults. Repackage the whole idea in a new, attention grabbing concept with the logic of modern meets classic & there could be a potential hit.

The 'too bad' thing here is that SS has always been intended for education rather than mere entertainment. Otherwise, I'd say they could do a spin-off called "Sesame Street: The Series" and do a whole show starring the people/Muppet cast of SS, including new and old characters.

Ah--dreaming is good.
