I am sad to report that he passed away the next day
due to the fluid building up in his lungs and heart. The fall didn’t make things any easier. But I know hes not hurting anymore and hes not confused and scared. I’m glad I was in town though (was in a friends wedding) so it was all good timing (if you want to call it that) His funeral is Wed, and its going to be a full military funeral complete with a 21 gun salute (that should be cool to see, I’ve never seen it live) since he was retired Air Force. '
I just cant believe he’s gone.
One thing I will always remember is that he was missing his ring finger on his left hand, and the ONLY story he ever told his grandkids was that a crocodile bit it off
mom later told me when I was older he lost it in a machine working at the post office a week before my parents got married. When he was in the hospital, sometimes he was so sick and lost so much weight that he didn’t look like himself, but I always knew it was him by looking at his hand.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, they have helped my family and I greatly. Love you all dearly. <3
