PLAZA SÉSAMO SET FOR DVD
Studio Latino to distribute Spanish-language TV show
By Susanne Ault 7/25/2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ventura Entertainment has inked a multi-year DVD output deal with Sesame Street producer Sesame Workshop.

Studio Latino, a Ventura-operated label, is set to release 10 titles through 2006 of Sesame's Spanish-language kids series Plaza Sésamo. Ventura describes the deal as the first time a Spanish-language children's TV show will be distributed in the U.S. DVD marketplace.

First titles Vamos A Cantar! (translated Let's Sing!) and Me Gusta Ser Yo (I Like Being Me) will hit retail in November 2005.

Plaza Sésamo is the longest-running kids series in Mexico. In the U.S., it has been airing for more than 10 years, reaching 92% of U.S. Latino households.

"The audience for Spanish-language home entertainment in the U.S. is currently underserved and growing rapidly," Ventura chief operating officer Eric Doctorow said. "Plaza Sésamo marks an important step in the company's efforts to reach this important market."
