Apparently, Disney is cheaping out and the crew won't be going to the Carribean to shoot. They might be headed over to the Black Rock, LOL.

While we can all mock this and bemoan it as a tragedy, a smart movie maker would simply make this a more intimate tale and get away with it. I mean, they freed a goddess in the last one ... kinda hard to keep up with that. Sparrow clearly has some sort of personal crisis in his head ... let's just make that the story and avoid the bloated stinking Kraken the third movie was.

I feel and always felt a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is inadvisable. When films tend to go beyond the trilogy stage, they make some pretty lousy films. Look at Rocky 4. What the heck was up with that stupid robot? Let alone the tired 1980's Anti-Russia message the movie thinly veiled.

I'm still flabbergasted that Disney passed up every opportunity to make a Pirates of the Caribbean animated series, which would have worked gangbusters. Sure, there's the possibility that it could come off as a ripoff or One Piece (like Disney's never been in that boat before... accidentally ripping off an anime), but it would have given their TV animation studios something to do besides the standard "wacky happenings at school" shows which were hit or miss anyway (I loved Replacements and Emperor's New School though... too bad I had to watch the 75% of episodes they didn't air on ABC online).

The budget crisis here worries me about the Muppet film. If they don't have this much faith and money for a sure hit, something that's more of a gamble may just get hurt too.

On the other hand ... I don't think Kermit costs as much as Calypso's crabs ... wait ... LOL. POTC tried its hardest to one-up itself, to a fault, really. Kermit an' pals can and do work in "epics" or "improv on a stage".

Remember the ending though! I won't give it away for those who haven't seen it, but my point is that the movie (in my opinion) doesn't have an anti-Russia message. Besides, Rocky 4 is my favorite. (I love Mr. T, but he was too mean in Rocky 3, haha! And we still get Carl Weathers in Rocky 4, so that's cool. Plus I love the song "There's No Easy Way Out" and it's "video"...great film, I feel!) But as usual, I like reading your opinions - and I agree with you 75% of the time, I bet! :super:

I like Rocky 3 the most if ONLY because they used that clip of the Muppet Show in the opening.

And honestly, I just HATED that frikkin robot. It kills the reality of the whole project. If their was a Rocky cartoon, fine. Cartoonish robot sidekicks... a 1980's stand by. But that just ruined the rest of the movie for me.
