Picketing Stephen Colbert!

Hey all,

Someone sent me a great suggestion to try to get people to picket the Colbert Report filming, in order to get attention for the Stephen Colbert Puppet Challenge. I think it's a pretty neat idea, and the person who suggested it to me suggested I could get puppeteers interested, so I'm posting here to see if anyone living in the NY area would be up for such a protest.

Basically, I'd give you some good shots of the puppet, you'd print 'em out, and then protest the fact that the show hasn't had the puppet Colbert on it yet.

Would anybody be up for something like that? It'd be potentially a lot of fun, and would help me out tremendously, and more than that, if it helps get the puppet Colbert on the show, it could help get more people thinking about puppets.

That is the best thing I have ever heard! Though I am not a puppeteer, or in the NY area.

Have you tried actually contacting the Report at all first, before you do that? They're the type of show that really responds to fans and publicity stunts and stuff in general, but if you send them pictures first they might actually be interested. I think they would be.

I've already been in contact with a producer, and I've just sent an e-mail to their booker. I'm trying this extra stuff to get more attention for it, so they can't ignore me.

So I know Cathy Murillo (CraftyChica.com) is currently picketing Ellen until she accepts glitter. Apparently it's gotten them a bit of press. I think its a great idea!

If only puppetry was lucrative enough that I could fly out on a whim and join in.

They definately can't ignore you if you do this! I'll all for it. Good for you! I wish I could be at that show taping when they let you on! But TCR does the tickets months ahead of time.

Do you want me to post this on The Colbert Report board (www.colboard.com) to get some more attention?
