This is a thread dedicated to two of my favorite characters and I'd like to point several things out.

1. What is their race? They've been called "Shills", "rats" and "Trash Twins", though this would describe them best since they're like ying and yang; Philo has hooded eyes that seem to reflect his laid-back and slightly lazy attitude and Gunge has alert eyes that seem to reflect his complete awareness of what's going on around him and he seems more attentive to Majory.

2. Any theories on how their presence effects Majory's health?

3. Just why is it they're snotty and rude to the Fraggles even though they love the attention? My guess is they consider the Fraggles to be helpless without her.

1. I always thaught of them as rats, or rat-like. That is, since I found out what they were. You see, when I first watched Fraggle Rock, I did not know who or what they were, or what their realationship was to the Trash Heap, or to each other. I even thaught they were human for a while! BTW, what is a Shill? I never heard the word before.
2. I'm nott sure how it came about, but I belive they have some sort of psychic connection to her.
3. Let's face it, they are a little helpless with out her! They are even sometimes helpless with her, but that's another story, Lol.
Seriously though, I think they are just vary protective of her, seeing her as a mother figure. Also, it is vary likely that they know how she depends on them, and it makes them a little edgey some times.
As for Gunge being more alert, I think that he might be the older of the two. Even with twins, there is a first and a second, and this could possibly be the case here.

I know this is an old thread now, but I just noticed this question and wanted to answer.

One definion of a shill is a person working in an amusement park who advertises the attractions (just as Philo and Gunge advertise the Trash Heap to the Fraggles). Sometimes shills even disguise themselves as customers in order to get other people to participate. Imagine if Philo and Gunge did that...hmm
