Wow. That's gonna be weird when you turn on TV and he's not there.

Of course, he hasn't been there for four months. But it was always "World News Tonight With Peter Jennings," even though it was Charlie or Elizabeth anchoring. That was a little strange. I guess now it will be just "World News Tonight," or "World News Tonight With Charlie Gibson (or Elizabeth Vargas)".

Yes very sad news. I saw from another source last evening (which I posted in another Peter Jennings thread) that there were unconfirmed reports that Peter was near death. Interestingly abcnews.com at the same time didn't have anything about this. I heard this morning that it was late last evening (like 10:42pm) that ABC ran a news bulletin that he died. Probably the family didn't want any media activity while they were with him in his final hours yesterday.
He sure did go fast. It was only back in April we heard of his lung cancer diagnosis. Just like this 58 year old woman I knew who died of lung cancer back in March. She was just fine through most of 2004. Then the cancer and then rapid decline. And since Peter Jennings was obviously a very wealthy man, he no doubt had the best of care and specialists treating him. Just further illustrates what a killer lung cancer is.
R.I.P. Peter. God be with your family and loved ones in this sad time.
