Haven't seen it yet, but i hope to see it soon. I'm just curious, for those who've seen it, is there much (i mean like, ALOT of) CGI? And is the CGI done well?

Acutaly, I loved it because they DID use CGI, but didnt over use it like.... *cough*Star Wars *Cough* (runs and hides form JediX) it looked very smooth. They also used puppets and such, and loved it. Good job all the way around.

Yeah, it is very good...but the ending's really haunting. That's all I'll say. I might get it when it comes out on DVD.

It's kind of interesting...I filed the review for the campus paper about a day before they started announcing the Oscar buzz.

My world history teacher showed my class a preview trailer for this movie, and I thought it looked really good--as in, really, REALLY good. :excited: (No MC smilie has eyes big enough to fully show my shock and amazement.) I really wish to see it, but I don't like how loud the theatre tends to make the sounds, so I think I'll wait 'til it's out on DVD or Pay-Per-View.

I bought Pan's Labyrinth this week, not having seen it at all in the theater, only knowing what to expect from the trailer and word-of-mouth.First,this is not a movie for children,it contains violence from beginning to end.Visually, the movie is gorgeous in cinematography;the segues and editing that were done to blend in the real world and the fantasy world makes me grin like a cheshire cat. There is a darkness to the film(same creator of Hellboy and Devil's Backbone),the fascism of war and obstacles of the underworld. This is not a cute movie,it's a movie to be viewed with your eyes and mind wide open.

I've seen Pan's Labyrinth three times in the past two days, twice without the commentary and once with.

For those of us that appreciate visual film making, this is for you.It has almost a darkness, like at most of what I'm used to seeing,Jim Henson's Storyteller.

Yeah, DEFINITELY NOT a kids movie- But one of the best gore scene (and I normally HATE gore) but from a special effect side, I was amazed. The part where she woman (can remember her name) puts a knife in the guys mouth and cuts though the side of his cheek (doesn't kill him) now that wasn't the best part, it was later when he tries to sew it shut himself, it was seamless! I could not figure out exactly how they did it! you could see right into this mouth as if it was gone! and it was just funny with him taking shots trying to ease the pain, only fir it to burn out the side of his cheek. Like I said I normally HATE gore, but this amazed me.

I purchased the special edition DVD the day after it was released & didn't really get around to watching it till today. I watched it twice, back to back, tonight. It's an amazing story. Agreed, not for children. Strong story line, impecible cgi & sfx. One of the most memorable scenes for me was with the rabbit hunters. the moist crunching & the spray. *shudders* love it.

There was very, very little cgi in The General's stitching scene. That was him actually doing that to himself, kind of. It's in the extras. I full endorse it! buy it at once! side note ~ I would love the have Fauno's suit.

I have seen The Devils Backbone. It is like Pan's in that it is a strong dark story & it could be horror, but yet not, at the same time. Unlike horror, nothing jumps in your face, but the imagery/feelings slowly build a sense of erieness, urgency and threat. The imagery is still very much spot on. Again, En Espanol. Pero, es okay, es still a mui bueno movie. well worth looking for.

I have been looking for Cronos, original, for a while. I think they played it on sci fi a long while ago... back when Kindred, The Embraced was still on the air.
