Palm Tree.

Anyone here remember the palm tree that tall wooden fence by the side of Hooper's Store in the play area? it was therein the 70s and 1 watching the SSU shows wouyld of seen it but I don't recall seeing it when I was young.

I do remember seeing the palm tree as well. In Season One, there seemed to be a mural with a bright sun painted on the side of Hooper's Store. In Season Two, where they widened the area between Hooper's Store and the 123 brownstone, you could see the palm tree painted on the fence, but the paint was already looking a little faded.

The area above the palm tree, which showed a taller red building, some sky, and a high clothesline in the distance, was originally above Big Bird's nest. If you see the very first episode, it's in the very first shot after the opening titles.
