Foamcore is kinda like two pieces of posterboard/paper glued to a 1/4" sheet of foam...so it makes a somewhat sturdy, stable surface you can cut up and build things out of. It also comes in black so you don't have to paint it if you don't want to deal with that. At least it used to. I haven't used any in years.

Yeah I've been getting the same problem too. I bet they're probably upgrading something... At least I hope that's it and nothing really severe.
