Less is more. Scooter, to me, seems built similarly to both Fraggles and to half the Whatnots ever made. Take a roundish-headed Whatnot. Now imagine a line going up from lip to top of head, and slant his face off left and right of that centerline, like a paper fold but at a gentler angle, not sharp. Increase the round top of his head a bit, you've got it too small in area.

Best I can advise is to get a bunch of pics of him and try tracing a few to start with, then move on to freehanding. Also check out the Muppet Show Comic Books...there's a lot of very simple-line art in those which is amazingly effective at conveying the shape and the personality of each character!

You're brilliant. I NEVER would have thought of tracing or looking at the work done on The Muppet Show Comics! I'm able to get his head drawn right now, and all thanks to you and your awesome advice. THANK YOU!!!!

Haha, beaker made me laugh. You are doing better at drawing Scooter than me, go figure! Hmmm, almost looks like green felt, that or it's a blanket on your bed...

Getting there on Scooter. I'm tackling that particular Muppet this week too, for someone else, so at the moment you're probably farther along than me!

And the green thing is OBVIOUSLY Slimer masquerading as a cuddly throw blanket. You eat cookies in bed, don't you!
