Original Cookie Monster

From what Iv'e seen in some old SS clips from Season 1. It seems like they were originally gonna have Beautiful Day Monster be the Cookie Monster. There was a few skits from that year where he actually eats cookies just like Cookie Monster does. I wonder what made them change their minds about this, and have be the Cookie Monster instead once Season 2 started.
