Origin of Mumford's magic words

Gee, I was wondering, why are the Amazing Mumford's magic words, "A la peanut butter sandwiches"?

I remember one Amazing Mumford skit where, for some reason, he only said, "Peanut butter", instead of the usual "Ala peanut butter sandwiches." This skit had a lady anyhting muppet. He kept making her disappear and reappear by saying "Peanut butter." And she would go, "Ohhhhh" as she vanished. Not sure how the skit ended. And I wonder if this was the first Mumford skit and then the later ones they had him say, "Ala peanut butter sandwiches."

In holland he has a german accent and says "Boterham mit pindakahs" It really sounds funny and wants to make you eat a sandwich with peanut butter... Maybe that was the though behind it also?
