It's enough to satisfy every sweet tooth in Michigan. Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville measures the girth of a 1,224 pound cupcake in Royal Oak, Mich., Saturday. The monstrous treat, which clocked in at an estimated 2 million calories, set a new record as the world's biggest cupcake.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was on hand to certify the cupcake's girth. It was more than eight times the size of the previous record holder.
The colossal cupcake took 12 hours to bake and included 800 eggs and 200 pounds each of sugar and flour.
Slices of the cupcake were served in exchange for donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer organization.
Ryan Abood, owner of New Hampshire-based Gourmetgiftbaskets.com who made the cupcake, told the Detroit Free Press that it clocked in at an estimated 2 million calories.

Not sure if you were around in the '70s.But there was a sketch when Ernie made 7 cupcakes.& wanted to take a picture of them. So he called them:stick_out_tongue: "Seven genuine homemade cuppycakes!"
When he went to get his camera, our cookie loving buddy appeared & said "Oh....cuppycake!" & took one. When Ernie came back in the room he noticed there were only 6. It happened a couple of times.Ernie FINALLY found out that Cookie took the cupcake ,when he snapped a picture & there was Cookie w/a cupcake in his mouth.

"Ooh - cupeecake" has always been one of my fave lines that i quote everytime i come in contact with a cupcake...despite the face that ever since that sketch came out when i was a kid i wondered why both Ernie and Cookie referred to them as cupcakes when they were actually brownies!
