Who would be a good first suspect for a detective mystery? I'm having a hard time deciding between wither using Digit or Leon as a starting suspect in a mystery story.

Due to his slightly shadier nature, especially the intro to The Jim Henson Hour Episode 5, I'd suggest Leon as the better initial suspect choice.
Also, I suggest reading through Muppet Newsgirl's Muppet Mystery fics if you need some inspiration for your own story.

Thank you for the assist, just started watching that fifth episode and "Frights, Camera, Action" by Muppet Newsgirl for research purposes, the latter has been a good help so far now. I do have one more question before continuing on my chapter for this week, what unsavory types in the Muppet-verse would be good gangster henchmen?

Off of the top of my head, Lefty the Salesman from Sesame Street, the Frackles from The Great Santa Claus Switch or other productions, the assorted characters who made up the Flying Monkeys from Muppets Wizard of Oz, other Grouches, etcetera. Hope this helps.
