A lot of the early speculation is that Seth Meyers is the likely choice for the Late Night slot, but I think that Anderson Cooper would be a good selection. The show could maybe move to a slightly different format, less comedy-oriented and more interview focused. He could have one or two guests an hour and have the opportunity to have some in-depth conversations. It would set the show apart from the rest of late night.

Anderson Cooper's show is tanking as it is.

His problem is he went too mainstream this year; last year, his show was pretty interesting and kind of unique compared to other daytime talk shows, but this year, his show looks no different than everyone else's, and he's suffering because of it, they've already reported his show won't be renewed after this year.

Then again, daytime seems to be a hard audience to please; I really thought Bonnie Hunt's show was actually pretty good, but she too got canceled after like a couple of years or so. Wayne Brady had two daytime talk shows (one network, one syndicated), both of which were canceled in no time. Unless you're Oprah, or anyone associated with Oprah (Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray), or Maury, daytime seems pretty cutthroat.

I can't imagine he was too happy about having to switch up the format of his show for this season (I watching the other day and they actually had the old "confront a phobic person with their fear on stage" thing from Maury's show as a segment), so he might not be too mad it's getting cancelled.

And Wayne Brady may not have had work with the talk shows, but he appears to have landed in a good place with Let's Make A Deal. I don't like the show because it's so unfair to the contestants, but he does the best that he can to make it entertaining and it allows him to improvise a lot, which is his best skill.

I know most MCers hate him for some reason, but I think if anybody out there deserves to have his own talk show, it's Tom Bergeron: he's perfect for a late night talk show.
O like Tom Bergeron. I remember when he had a local talk show in Boston. I just hate the shows he hosts. he really needs something that focuses on comedy that isn't a bunch of MidWesterners with video cameras.

Also, when F/X was a brand-spankin' new channel, they had a comedic early morning talk show that he co-hosted with another lady, and a ugly-cute puppet.

Well, he doesn't even DO anything on SNL anyway (Weekend Update aside).
