I'm the friend who told SSetta about this new channel. It may be just a rumor, but as they say, "Don't shoot the messenger".

Well, I just called a whole bunch of people at Nickelodeon and MTV. But they kept transferring me to the wrong people, so I would end up back at the receptionist. He hadn't heard anything about this new network, so eventually, he asked someone there. And this person did hear something about it, but unfortunately, she thinks it's actually going to be Nickelodeon Classic. Meaning it would have shows like Degrassi, Clarissa Explains it All, etc. Does anyone remember those shows? I think it's basically going to be a channel of IN-HOUSE material, unlike Nick at Nite or TV Land. I mean, they might have to put some filler stuff on there because it's a whole channel, but the problem is, shows like 3-2-1 Contact, The Electric Company, and SESAME STREET UNPAVED, those REALLY weren't Nickelodeon shows. I know it's a bit upsetting, but I think it WOULD make more sense for a Nickelodeon Classic channel, because, put it this way, none of those old shows were doing well on Noggin in the first place, which is why they took them off. So, it seems that there's a higher demand for old Nickelodeon shows than there is for old PBS and CTW shows. :frown:

They don't hate it. They just don't have room for it on the regular Noggin channel anymore because they had to make room for new shows. And sadly, even if this new channel does launch, I somehow think it won't last very long, because I don't think it was ever getting good ratings to begin with, which is why they discontinued it. I mean, Toon Disney used to have all these shows from Disney Afternoon like DuckTales, TaleSpin, etc. and now that's all gone. See, what often happens with these non-popular new cable networks is, they end up becoming something entirely different. Just look at what is now Spike TV. Do any of you remember way back in the 80s when it was TNN (The Nashville Network) and had Country Music Videos? It's like you would have had to been around then to know that it used to be something else. But this also happened with some of the channels Vh-1 has. Vh-1 Classic was actually Vh-1 Smooth for about a few months, and it bombed. Now there's Vh-1 Megahits which I was told is going off the air very shortly, and it will turn into a new network called LOGO. Also, MTV X changed to MTV Jams. I don't even know if this "Noggin Classic" channel will actually come about.
Same reason Cartoon Network took Looney Tunes and classic Scooby-Doo off the air! Gawd, I wish I had Boomerang!

If they start airing old Nick shows I still hoping that they'll bring those to DVD. I have CEA and PAP on DVD. I want the rest of the seasons too. I want more of the Nick shows on DVD. I love them all growing up. Ever since they changed Nick I hardly watch it anymore. I might everyonce and while but not often.

Well, yes, if they had Nickelodeon Classic, it would be good and bad at the same time. I mean, those shows never really meant anything to me. So, it's good for those classic Nick fans, but not good for those people who seriously thought it was gonna be Noggin classic, and would have those old CTW/PBS shows.
