In Ethiopia they do not mark birthdays because they feel that you count bigtime every day all day, not just that day. I like that notion.

Rest assured that you will inevitably achieve an age at which marking birthdays is not all it's cracked up to be.

At 46 I must be some kind of Great Elder on MC. No, wait, that's a tree.

I like being in the forties quite a lot but as you rocket toward the other side of the hill birthdays do indeed become a bit of an irritant.
