Hey, everyone can abuse the system... the REAL problem is that people don't stand up against it. Don't forget, a lot of this child labor comes from most heinous countries with terrible dictatorships that no one has the guts to stand up against. So, when we look at it, it's got more revolting layers than a rotten onion.
Our country does business with these countries and their governments. And we cheer for them at the Olympics. And we wonder why things are so messed up.

That's why you get to cheer for your home country... Although sometimes it's not the best thing to be proud of because of who we associate and do businesses with.... :stick_out_tongue:

There are some governments that you just can't do anything about... if you try to vilify them, they attack, if you ignore or cheer them, nothing gets done. Either way, you're stuck in a place that isn't good for anyone. I just wished more of their own citizens stood up against them, but they just can't. Only thing you can do is try to boycott their products. But even then, they still make them. Trade embargos would only cause more international tension.

Sadly, child labor is usually the only way to go for those unfortunate kids... Mommy and Poppy can't put the small amounts of food on the table, so they have no choice.

That said, at least they aren't used for children sex slave trades... that's the lowest of the low, and it even happens in democratic countries.

Well yeah but then we supported an Olympics that was sponsored by a very corrupt government. One that sent us toys that hurt our kids, and continually flies in the face of the civil rights we cherish. Unbelievable, heh.

It's hard in a dictatorship. Even many Nazis soldiers only joined the army because they feared for their families' safety if they didn't.

That's true. But have we forgot that not long ago in this county there was a time when the toys and everyday products that we use were not so safe and made right her at home. I'm not justifying China's misbehavior or anything.

Oh definitely, we did have our share of mistakes in the past. That's why we put regulations in place (as imperfect as they are). And that's why we shouldn't have then gone to a country that has no such regulations just because it's cheaper.

You think sombody would have learned their lesson by non. But I guess that is just not the case for some people when money is their main concern.

You got it right, there are always people who know and simply don't care if it means making money. If they thought no money was to be made, they'd stop. (Hint, hint, hehe)

Well, I've had 0 opportunity to notice the Kissables difference, because, unfortunately, Ingles has STOPPED ordering Kissables (too expensive for them? Lame), so I am going to try these "new" Kissables on this trip I plan on taking this week. I'm ABSOLUTELY NOT passing any judgement on Hershey's until I get my hands on some new Kissables.

Also, I seem to be hooked on Cookies & Cream Hershey bars for some reason...

White chocolate doesn't count. Is doesn't contain any Cocoa solids to begin with. So white chocolate lovers don't have to worry... and I really do love the stuff... though those Pirates of the Carribean M&M's with white chocolate were beyond sweet... not quite gag producing, but the stuff's not something you want to add more sugar too.
