No Luis in early specials

Has anybody noticed that a lot of early Sesame Street specials didn't feature Luis? Luis wasn't in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street or Don't Eat The Pictures, even though the rest of the human cast (minus Mr. Macintosh and Willy) were in them. He also wasn't in A Special Sesame Street Christmas or Big Bird In China, but those are more understandable, since A Special Sesame Street Christmas only had four cast memebrs while Big Bird In China didn't have any regular humans at all. He also hardly appeared in Follow That Bird, only being given two or three lines.

What gives?

I think the reason for this is because at the time all of those specials were made Emilio Delgado was busy with his role on another series called Lou Grant. It was probably difficult for him to fly back and forth from California (were Lou Grant was filmed) to appear in these specials.

Oh. I didn't know that he was a regular on Lou Grant.

By the way, I forgot to ask something. Did Luis appear in Julie On Sesame Street?
