So, I got my new issue of Nintendo Power in today. I started by reading the Pulse section like I normally do, and there it was:

"I CAN'T HEAR YOU; I HAVE A BANANA IN MY EAR"

Can someone get a picture of that? It's in the Pulse section of the November 2006 issue of Nintendo Power.

If it was just the quote, I don't think it's a Muppet reference--that joke is pretty old.

Well... Me thinks it is a Muppet quote, harkening back to the classic Bert and Ernie sketch where Ernie's annoying Bert because he, um, has a banana in his ear blocking out the sound of his buddy Bert trying to carry on the normal conversation with his roommate.
You might want to ask about it in the Classic Sesame section of the forum to get a more detailed account. Hope this helps.

I'll probably scan it tomorrow and put it up on photobucket and post the link (if no one else does before me of course).
