Hi everyone, lifelong Henson fan, first time posting here at Muppet Central. I'm a 35 year old Australian, living in Denmark.

Aaaaanyway, I'm planning a trip to New York and had heard there was a Creature Shop there, but after quite a bit of Googling, haven't really found any info on it. Has it closed?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Wakka wakka... :embarrassed:

The workshop in New York was formerly known as "The Muppet Workshop." That was before the sale to Disney. It has since become a division of the Creature Shop, and is often referred to as Jim Henson's Puppet Workshop. They do mainly just the "soft" puppets like Sesame Street characters.

According to the Muppet Wiki, it's located on Broadway. I don't think they do tours, but who knows?

As someone who interned at the old Workshop over on E. 67th St, I don't believe the relocation is open to the public as the other workshop wasn't either. I read several months back that they were considering relocating yet again to Long Island City which is close enough to NYC but has a bit cheaper rents in some cases and more space. It's very industrial and there is alot of warehouses out there, etc. You could try inquiring about a tour but I doubt they would accommodate it to be very honest unless you knew somebody personally to help you out.
