It has been confirmed that there will be a new Sonic the Hedgehog reboot series premiering on Cartoon Network sometime in late 2019.
From the CN website:
"Zooming to Cartoon Network in 2019 - it's Sonic the Hedgehog!
The series will star the titular Sonic, a sarcastic and hyper teen hedgehog with super sonic speed who loves to goof off and go on adventures with his buddies Tails the fox and Knuckles the echidna.
However, things aren't always sunshine, lollipops and rainbows as the villainous Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is plotting to take over the world and turn it into Robotnikland. He's starting off his evildoing by capturing innocent animals and trapping them inside his robotic minions.
It's up to Sonic and his friends to stop Robotnik and save the world!"
Oh, and CN has recently released a promo image:
