Nooooooo-ooooooooo-oooooooooooo!

Layer Cake director, in pre-production for X-men 3 has dropped the cake (er...film) and run back to london because of personal problems! Now they have all the original stars signed back on (Including, i believe, Jean Grey, Storm, Mystic, people who wern't going to return, plus Jaggernaught) and now he's dropped the project. Oh noooooo! Tragic! Bryon Singer! Come back to us!!!

Seriously! I'm thrilled that he's doing Superman, but I think that the studio behind X-Men should have had enough respect for him and the work he's done to just delay the film by a year or so. Then he could do both, and that would be super-cool. (Or mutant-cool, depending on which franchise you prefer).

I was one of two guys in the theater. Actually, for a while, my wife and I were the only ones there. Then she went out to use the bathroom. Then while she was gone about thirty teenage girls came in. I was grateful when my wife came back--I felt a little out of place without her!
That's funny Andy.

Review of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

This was a funny yet odd movie. Tow people married together, yet they don't know what the heck the other does as their real job, which is to kill people. Each person thought the other person had a regular job. Anyway, this movie had a great action scene that involved Pitt and Jolie in a car against people in 3 other cars. Won't spoil ny more information about that scene for those of you that are planning on seeing this movie.

Also, it was funny that Pitt and Jolie's marriage was on the rocks and both felt bored with each other, until each finds out the other kills people. Then things start cookin for the two.

Anyway, this is a good "popcorn" film to just sit back and have fun. This isn't like Cinderella Man and it's not going to win any awards, it's just a brainless funny and odd film.

2 1/2 out of 4 stars

I see just about all the critics are saying "The Honeymooners" movie now playing in theaters is awful.(But Roger Ebert does give it 3 out of 4 stars. Bet there's a good chance Richard Roeper will spar with him on this weekend's edition of their program!). That's too bad, since "The Honeymooners" with Jackie Gleason and Art Carney is one of my top 5 sitcoms of all time. I have the 5 disc classic 39 episodes on dvd from the mid 50's. I'll wait to see the movie by renting it some time in the future.

I thought it was pretty stupid for the movie studio to do a Honeymooners movie anyway. Why mess up a classic television show. What's next, a movie version of I Love Lucy?

Yeah conceptually movies based on these old sitcoms are pretty silly. But the name probably sells a lot of tickets. Like I would probably expect an "I Love Lucy" to be pretty lame but yet still likely at least rent it just out of curiosity (That was one of my top 5 favorite sitcoms too).
Perhaps the "Bewitched" movie due out in 2 weeks will be a cut above the others. It seems to be getting a little more eager anticipation. Plus, the magic theme might help somewhat since a modern movie could do more with the special effects. But if the writing and jokes are still lame then that won't save it.
By the way, I see the new "Star Wars" movie coming into this weekend is already at $315 million and #15 of all time for money earnings. Pretty good for only being out for 3 weeks. I'd say it has a good shot at making the number 2 slot (currently held by the original 1977 Star Wars - $460 million).
The toughie will be beating #1 of all time "Titanic". It made over $600 million.
