Movie update, and I got a lot of em I saw....
Meet the Fockers: From the successful movie of Meet the Parents, we get a sequel where the Byrnes's meet Ben Stiller's (Gaylord Focker) parents played by Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand. Although this is a you either love it or hate it movie, I liked it. I thought it was a funny sequel. I thought Hoffman and Streisand were halarious (although I don't care that much for Streisand. No offense.) although the Fockers were a couple of oddballs, I liked the fact that they loved their son very much and were quick to point out that Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) was a grouch who seemed to hate everything about the Fockers. I'm still not convinced that he even likes Greg. However, I enjoyed the movie and so did my parents, whom I saw the movie with. 3 out of 4 stars
Lemony Snicket's A Serious of Unfortunate Events: I saw this movie yesterday with a relative that wanted to see the movie. I really did not know what to expect from this movie since I'm to old to read the books. However, I thought this was very unique, like watching a Tim Burton film. Jim Carrey delievers his regualr memorable performances playing three different characters, well two characters are disguises. I also thought the two eldest kids were also great, trying to escape Count Olaf (Carrey). It was also good to see Meryl Streep (who is 55 and still a babe!) and even Dustin Hoffman shows up with a cameo appearance. Great movie to watch. I'm also looking foward to a sequel.) 3 out of 4 stars.
The Aviator: The Avaitor is about the billioniare Howard Hughs and his life in the 30's and 40's. Leonardo DiCaprio (who playes Hughes) gives a great performance as a man who is full of ideas on airplanes, which helped to spawn a lot of the airplanes we see and travel in today.) It also shows the problems (illness) that Hughes had, which I don't know what he had but nevertheless shows the illness a lot in the movie. Another great performance was from Kate Blanchett who played the quirky Katherine Hepburn. (I wouldn't be surprised if she got an oscar nonimation for the role.) Also, another thing I enjoyed was the music of the era, which is big band type jazz. The whole 30's and 40's style in the movie looked great. 3 out of 4 stars
Beyond the Sea: The last movie I saw, which was today with my dad. Kevin Spacey helped write, produce, direct, and stars as Bobby Darin, who made a lot of popular music like Splish Splash, Dream lover, and other memorable songs. Spacey showcases Darin as a man on a mission: to entertain people and to become bigger than Frank Sinatra. Spacey also shows the problems Darin had in the late 1960's with the war, getting older, the changing times in music, and Darin's problems with his health. I also enjoyed this movie, although it doesn't come anywhere close as Ray, the movie about Ray Charles. Still, the music is great and Spacey does a good job on potrying Darin and showing people like me information about Darin, since I never grew up with him, unlike my dad who did grow up with Darin and his music. 3 out of 4 stars.
