I have a few questions about the "National Association of W Lovers".

-- We already know that Bert is the President of the Sesame Street chapter of the NAWL. I'll bet they elected him because he is the most rational of the Muppets, even if he does carry that rationality to a fault sometimes. But who are the other officers? My guess is:

Vice-President: Ernie
Treasurer: Herbert Birdsfoot
Secretary: Betty Lou (or Prairie Dawn)

Sergeant-at-arms: Herry.

-- Where is the meeting held? Although the stage showed a "W" flag standing opposite the usual American Flag, I would suspect they rented out a church or some fraternal lodge like from the Masons or Knights of Columbus. I doubt that their club could justify its own lodge. How often do they meet, anyway?

-- The club song is on Page 4 of the manual. What's on pages 1-3, and how many pages is it total? (And what's with calling it a "manual" anyway? What's wrong with "handbook"? IMHO, a manual is used for the likes of stereos and computers.) A possibility:

Page 1..........Cover of manual. Displays club name and logo.
Page 2..........Table of Contents
Page 3..........Club charter
Page 4..........Club song (written with sheet music, like in a hymnal)
Pages 5-9......Virtues of the letter W
Pages 10-14...Tutorial on how to write a W

-- What do they do at the meetings besides sing the club song? Perhaps the minutes of a typical NAWL meeting would look like this:

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF W LOVERS MEETING

Call to order by Bert.
Club song

Second call to order by Bert. Opening bell at 7:32 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance
Prayer, led by Prairie Dawn

OLD BUSINESS
- Review of last week's W words
- Herbert Birdsfoot announces the winner of the silent auction for the 6-foot W that formerly adorned THE WHARF bar and grill, following a shift to more energy-efficient signage. The auction brought $24.95 to the club treasury.

NEW BUSINESS
- Senior member Kermit the Frog introduces words "Web" and "Wire".

Bert adjourned the meeting at 8:01 p.m.

Refreshments were prepared by lifetime member Grover, acting as server following the forced resignation of member Cookie Monster, still on probation for consuming all refreshments prior to serving.

Very good Sesame Mike! Pretty creative there. That would have been neat if they had done several skits with Bert addressing the w lovers.
And you gave me a good idea to what to change my signature to for the next few days.

in The best Of ernie and Bert, before this clip is shown, Big Bird talks to Ernestine about what people do at the national association Of W Lovers. I can't remember everything big bird said, but he said that people draw letter Ws and i think say words that begin with W.

That's a great idea for a SS, though I'd add one more piece of new business:
A proposal from Telly Monster to host a game of some sorts between the club and the National Association of Triangle Lovers or whatever the club's called he's in. (I only know there's a Grand High Triangle) After all, if you put a line over a W you get not 1 but 2 triangles! So they'd match well.

You know how when you're driving into a small town, you often see a "Welcome to Smallsville" sign, and next to it is a board containing symbols and logos of many of the different churches or clubs that may be found in that town? For example, you might see a Freemason symbol indicating a local Masonic lodge, or a cogwheel logo for a Rotary Club chapter. But some of the logos consist primarily of stylized letters, most notably the "K" for Kiwanis and "L" for the Lions Club. Would the National Association of W Lovers have a custom "W" logo on the board, if they had a local chapter in the town in question?

Another thought: would President "Dubya" Bush be made an honorary member of the NAWL, even though some members might disagree with his politics?
