Mystery Thingy in the Chef's Kitchen

After a close analysis by myself and 5 co-workers, none of us can come to a consensus about what in the world the plastic white accessory in the kitchen playset is supposed to be.

Ideas are that it is a cutting board, a shelf for the fridge and/or freezer, an ice tray, and a storage container. One guy just said that the whole thing was cool and didn't manage to contribute at all (however, we all agreed that it is one of the coolest playsets that we have ever seen).

So I'm asking for help on identifying this thing, so I can put it in it's proper place in the playset.

It's an ice tray, the kind used to hold ice made in an ice making machine or something. It's supposed to fit in the top shelf of the fridge/freezer.

Originally i thought it was a contraceptive device for Muppet Koozebane aliens that just happened to get mixed in with the Chef's playest but i'm wrong apparently.
