Marty: There are the links Bill to remind my friends about those two stories. They feel like classics to me now looking back on them.

Bill: That's wonderful Marty. You should be proud of them both.

Marty: Thank you Bill. I have fond memories of writing them.

Bill: What else have you written?

Marty: Well here I can give tribute to another one of my good forum friends Bill. His name is David Ebersole, otherwise known as MC member Gorgon Heap. He started the trend of a very special genre of fan fiction. The art of composing outlines at least, full scripts at most, of Muppet Shows that never existed. I had always greatly admired him for his cleverness in doing this ever since the days I would peruse MC as a guest.
But I'll take another little break and then I'll talk about my efforts at outlining and how Dave helped me in them.

Bill: I'll look forward to it Marty.

Reminds me of that terrible outline I did with Jamie Farr, lol.

To this day, I still makes me sick whenever I read it. It's probably what's kept me from writing other outlines, like two I've had ideas for featuring Alan Alda and Gary Burghoff (more M*A*S*H stars).

But sometimes, even if outlines look sketchy or iffy, the end result could end up phenomenal.

I read that pilot you did for BJ and that one was pretty good! You've always been really hard on yourself but you are a good writer. You especially have good comedic timing! Just at T*K*O and compare season one to season three or four.

Plus, sometimes, all it really takes is time and hard work.

Bill: Hi everybody. Marty has had a few little problems that have taken up a lot of his time. But he will talk about his Muppet Show outlines soon. He's also been trying to come up with a brand new one.
He's feeling okay by the way and looking forward to finally continuing the thread.

Marty: And here we are again Bill. Ready my friend?

Bill: Yes Marty. So how did your script writing go?

Marty: It all started when I received Season 1 of The Muppet Show as a Christmas present Bill. I had a Muppet Show marathon in my old unit. Then I felt like trying to write a Muppet Show of my very own.

Bill: How did you go getting started?

Marty: First I picked a celebrity I really liked and kept referring to my DVDs for inspiration. At first I had only a very rough outline, then as time went by I eventually fleshed it out into a script. In fact I enjoyed it so much I even worked upon another one. So I had two fictitious Muppet Shows in the style of Season one.

Bill: That's exciting Marty. How did your friends like them?

Marty: I had many positive comments upon them Bill. They were very popular. I also owe a huge debt of thanks to David Ebersole AKA Gorgon Heap. He's written many, many awesome outlines and a couple of full scripts and he helped me with my two scripts. He gave some good editorial suggestions to make the jokes in the dialogue flow more smoothly. Thank you Dave. You're a great fellow.

Bill: Are you going to share the links to them Marty?

Marty: I sure am Bill. But it's kind of late again. I'll do it soon though. And I'll give my personal thoughts about them and the guest stars I chose when I do.

Bill: Okay my friend. That sounds fabulous.

Marty: Here we are again at last Bill. Let's carry on now.

Bill: Yeah. I'm ready Marty.

Marty: Here's a link to the first of my two outlines expanded into a script.
http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=29472

The guest star I picked was Harry Secombe. MC members in Britain should be very familiar with who he was. I would have always liked to have seen him on the real Muppet Show particularly because he worked with two other celebrities in radio comedy who both really were Muppet guests.

Bill: Who were they Marty?

Marty: Spike Milligan who appeared in season 3 and Peter Sellers in season 2. On radio these two men performed with Harry on the Goon Show. They were hilarious. I even refer to the Goon Show in the middle of the fan fic with jokes quoted from episodes.

Bill: That's awesome and Dave Ebersole was very helpful to you Marty. Wasn't he?

Marty: He sure was. You can read about in the thread. I still hope to one day write it up in a final draft. I could maybe try to see if I can get permission to publish it in the future. Imagine. The "lost" Muppet Show episodes series. Sounds great.

Bill: Wow. I hope others who haven't read it before check out the link. That would be fabulous Marty. What about your other one?

Marty: I'll talk about that next soon Bill.

Marty: Well Bill. We're finally back again. It's certainly been awhile, hasn't it?

Bill: Yeah. But it's great to be here again. We were up to your other outline as I recall.

Marty: Correct Bill. http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=31776
That one features Tim Brooke-Taylor as a guest star. He's a British comedian and a member of a comedy trio known as the Goodies. Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie had a televidion show that was very popular in Britain and Australia. None of them ever appeared on the Muppet Show, but I always thought Tim would have been the best one to do so.

You know Bill, I actually didn't like this one when I expanded it to a script as much as my Harry Secombe fanfic.

Bill: Why not Marty?

Marty: At the time it seemed to me like the sketches were mostly too brief. But many real Muppet Show sketches aren't really all that long. Some only 2 minutes approximately.
Maybe subconsciously I wasn't certain if I had done true justice to Tim's style of comedy. But glancing back over it just now I see it was a splendid piece of work. All the positive comments from everybody are so encouraging. Thank you all very much.

Bill: That's lovely to hear you say that Marty. So what else can you talk about?

Marty: I'll think of something Bill. See you later my friend.

Bill: Okay.
