So, I finished the blue stingray puppet for my client. It was fun to do something a different style than my own and I am happy to say it looks exactly like the customer wanted. It was a very positive learning experience a sting ray body is completely different so that was fun. Trying to hide the seams was a blast and a challenge. But, the thing I struggled on the most was the eyes. Since this puppet was way to small for spoons and ping pong balls I had to be creative.
First I looked into some craft eyes- but it made the puppet look cheap
then stacey gave me a suggestion using pom poms- but alas it blended in too much with the fleece body.
Buttons-no good
Then I tried carving some make up sponges- didn't look right
lastly which now makes the puppet completely look like the customers drawing. I used some sculpey all cooked up into tiny half domes. I painted it all up and attached them through tiny loops I made in the back to sew them to the body for stability. All in All the customer is happy and that is what matters. I am excited to have gotten a chance to work outside my style(always fun).
Well I will post pictures ASAP for everyone.
But, Lastly I want to thank everyone who gave me advice towards this project.
