I see them, I see them. Jim, Frank, Jerry and Dave. Cool.

Richard Hunt as a popcorn vendor. Tell me, is this a direct reference to: Popcorn, get your popcorn. Popcorn chicken?

From GMC?

Note: Jim is wearing Green. nice touch there!

Oooh, and who is that next to Richard eyeing him either suspiciously, or lustfully?

Yes! Actually, Richard's outfit is based on all three of Scooter's popcorn-related moments from TMM, GMC and TMTM.

The vendor box reads "Only a buck" the same price Scooter sold popcorn for in TMM.

The red and white hat is inspired by the one Scooter wore in GMC

Richard's tan/brownish pants are inspired by the Usher Scooter from TMTM.

For more info on Richard being in the drawing, check out this thread:

One of the many hidden things I have in that drawing. Glad you noticed it.

That is Lily Tomlin as probably her best known character Ernestine Tomlin the telephone switchboard operator. (One ringy dingy, two ringy dingies...) She can be seen in these scans as well. The full body one of her was scanned when her irises weren't filled in yet.

She even came out with a record years ago, which is now on CD. Click on the image to see a larger picture of her:

Ernestine always had this look on her face, her nose wrinkled, tongue sticking out a little, and a little bit of mischief in her eyes. From the album (and assorted Laugh-In sketches I studied) she sometimes tries to flirt with the men she calls up on the switchboard (or tries to flirt with them, anyway).

Lily Tomlin is one of my all-time favorite commediennes, and it was a lot of fun to put Ernestine in the picture. As you probably know, Lily Tomlin has worked with the Muppets in the past. In fact, Ernestine once brought her switchboard to Sesame Street, where she was :grouchy:'s personal operator!

Did Jim Henson ever have his hair that long? I've never seen any pictures of him like that.
But you captured Frank Oz perfectly!

Yeah, he did have his hair that long years ago. When I drew him, I used the book "Of Muppets and Men" as one of my main references. I used p. 130 and yup, his hair really is that long in the photo! Since he appears with Linda Ronstadt, I'd guess the photo is from 1981. Another long-haired Jim Henson appears in the 2 page photo spread at the beginning of this book. If you haven't got a copy of "Of Muppets and Men", check your local library, and maybe they can order a copy through InterLibrary Loan for you. It's an excellent book!

Thanks for the compliment on Frank Oz, by the way!
