Guess What Everybody,My Local PBS Station WHYY (The Philadelphia PBS Station)E-mailed Me Back About Older Sesame Street Episodes That They're not allowed to air back and Here's What They Said:
Unfortunately,We are only given the rights to air episodes for a certain amount of time.If you would like older episodes of Sesame Street, you can contact the Children's Television Workshop (producers) to obtain copies on VHS,Their number is 212-875-6443 and their address is 1 Lincoln Plaza,NY NY 10023.

Do you think this is true what they said

i don't mean to sound mean but why would you write to your local PBS station about a show that doesn't even originate from were they serve? naturally they just air the shows and have no control over such stuff.

Well, they obviously don't know much at all. And that isn't even the number that I call. The number I use is 212-595-3456. But I don't know why they said that. And it's funny, because I recently looked at the WHYY schedule, and they recently pushed the airing of Sesame Street back to only once a day, at 6:30am! Did you notice that? Why did they DO that? Does NJN still air it twice?

I wrote to CTW (now SW) about ten years ago, asking for old episodes. All I got was a packet with stock responses of why they can't give out individual episodes due to contractual agreements, a list of all of their commercially available Sesame Street tapes, a booklet with general information about the show, and a poster of the current cast.

He was wondering if you could actually get old episodes from Sesame Workshop since PBS referred him there, but according to my experience some years ago, you can't. I think PBS was just saying that the decision is up to SW, not them. Still, there would be no harm in writing to SW with the request.

Hey, I'm a writer and performer on a show (on a local access channel) and I haven't even been able to get the producer (a fellow writer/performer and a personal friend) to get me copies of all the shows we've done.
