Hey guys,
First of all, thanks to Warrick for sending me the clip. I loved it when I was little, and I apprieciate it more now. It ws really way ahead of it's time, in puppetry (This might be the best puppetry I've ever seen Marilyn Sokol do!) and lyrics. The line about stealing the old lady's purse makes me crack up every time. It's a great skit, as well as most from the time (75-76). I think this is one of the best time's for SS skits. They were very fresh and original at this time, especially the monster and Anything bits. Anyway, I just wanted to pay a little homage to my new favorite SS skit. Anybody here got an Mp3 of it? Well, I'd better stop now, don't want to get to furryfella-ish
 j/k man!

Did Marilyn puppeteer that? I thought she just provided the precorded voices.

Yes, as far as I know, Marilyn performed Betty Lou in the scene. Here's the reason I think so:

Kermit and Green Old Lady (voiced by Marilyn) : Jim Henson
Hippie and Purple Lady(voiced by Marilyn) : Jerry
Bert and Purple Man: Frank
Orange Man and Pink Boy: Richard

At this time, these were the only performers other than Fran and Caroll on the show. If Fran were performing her, she would have dubbed the voice as well. And as far as I know, Caroll wasn't performing regular Muppets anymore. (I believe he stopped in early 1970, the last one I have seen is the one with Cookie Monster trying to go to school, but he can't read. A purple old man helps him out, performed by Caroll.) Unless there is a performer I'm missing, it was Marilyn. One question...who performed the sleepy cop on the bus? (in the exterior scene, he's played by Jim)

No one was performing the sleepy cop. Why would someone perform a sleeping puppet? Lol

Very possible, Scooter.

The only reason I had my doubts about Marilyn Sokol actually puppeteering is from a past thread with Jerry Nelson. (I looked, but can't relocate that message, it must have been long ago.) To the best of my memory, Jerry mentioned that Ms. Sokol did puppeteer for The Great Santa Claus Switch, but she felt she wasn't as good as it as say, singing and comedy, and that was the extent of her puppeteering. If that was the case, then she would have just been doing precorded voiceovers for songs on Sesame Street.

But maybe she did work as an extra puppeteer after all.

As I say, I hope I have my facts right.

Yeah, it didn't work for me.

Splurge.
true, but she has puppeteered on SS. In a early 70's sketch she performed a monster or two (Herry tells a secret to Grover, which is only just the alphabet)
