I don't care how popular he is now, he just doesn't have any respect or credibility from me.
All the musicians I admire, not just for their talent, but for the dues they had to pay before they became successful.
The Beatles spent three years playing sleazy clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg, and only got a record deal with Parlophone after every other record company turned them down.
Fleetwood Mac spent five years of soul-searching after they lost their leader Peter Green, and moving to California and finding Buckingham and Nicks, and then striking it rich with Rumours.
Tina Turner had a few hits with her husband Ike,(in between all the beatings) and had to walk out on him with 78 cents in her pocket and struggle for years before her stellar comeback.
I could go on forever... but exactly what dues did Mr. Bieber have to pay for his fame? What sacrifices did he have to make? What did he really have to risk? It must be nice to have Usher take him under his wing and open doors for him to get him to a level most other musicians reach only after years of struggle, disappointments, and heartache.
I'm just remembering how sick my stomach was watching him on New Year's Eve in Times Square, and I thought it was a crime for a living legend like Carlos Santana having to play second fiddle to him. And butchering Let It Be in the process. Paul McCartney he ain't!
When I find myself in times of trouble, another zit I find on me
Justin, don't you squeeze it, let it be!
I'm afraid a dangerous precedent has already been set that a lot of up-and-coming musicians and singers think all you have to do is THINK you'll be famous, and all the trappings and priveledges will just fall in your lap. Instantly. Right now. No waiting, just instant gratification right now, because that's how life's supposed to work, right?
Eddie Van Halen once said about his days before VH hit it big: "You gotta eat a lot of **** before you know what a steak tastes like".
Thanks for letting this old coot rant. Now I need a nap!
