LCD seem to be one of the few newer acts Ive seen that have the fun irreverent spirit of new wave/post punkish sort of zany bands from the 80's I love like Talking Heads, B-52's, Devo, They Might Be Giants, etc.(that fun irreverent sound with a deeper subtext or social message imbued) I could totally see James Murphy on Sesame Street or doing something with the Muppets ala Weezer's Gone Fishin'.
Agree completely, they're sort of dance music but the good kind - really smart, early Talking Heads, New York kind of thing. Although the new album seems more heavily influenced by British music - late 70s Bowie most obviously.

Speaking of Talking Heads, have you seen this Kermit the frog spoof of "Once in a Lifetime" from Muppets Tonight?

Yes, great stuff. And here's another fantastic YouTube clip (possibly my favourite thing on YouTube in fact), involving another brilliant current band, The Hold Steady.

(I've already posted this link in the YouTube thread, hope no-one minds me posting it again here.)

Oh cool. Did you ever see REM on Sesame Street with monsters performing "Shiny Happy Monsters", or the spoof of Devo on Muppets Tonight?

Im excited, finally get to see LCD Soundsystem(theyre headling the Treasure Island Music Fest in San Francisco) Its funny they keep headlining major fests like Coachella, but Ive never once heard em on the radio, seen em on tv, read much about em in magazines and noone I know has heard of them.
