Wow, thanks anathema. I just rented the later disney version, which much to my annoyance did not have the screen test, but I'll try to put it in the computer and see if that does anything. Disney might have found a way to fix that or bla, but I'll try it. Thanks.

I think most of the framing problems were due to two things. Though a brilliant director and one of my favoites, James Frawley never directed puppets before, and probably didn't have the trained eye for what should remain hidden. Also, the video assist back then meant positioning the video camera next to the film camera instead of shooting through the film camera lens, or otherwise relaying the exact film image to video.
