The characters aren't Classic Muppets like Kermit, Piggy or Fozzie. I consider them part of the "Muppet Worlds" category like Bear in the Big Blue House, Dinosaurs, Hoobs, Mopatop's Shop, etc. Animal Jam is produced by JHC and the characters are designed by JHC. So yes, they are Muppets, in my opinion.

By the way, Pez the Penguin was also reportedly designed by Henson.

Yes, what Phillip says is the original answer I got at the top of this thread or somewhere else. Any creature/character made by the Jim Henson Company for any of their productions or movies or TV shows which consists in being a puppet but being controlled like a marionette at the same time would be technically classified as a "Muppet". However, I was asking of the Henson productions listed above, which should I personally count towards inclusion in my Muppet Listings, of which there are various threads scattered to the winds and the pages of Muppet Central in distinct versions upgraded from the last one posted. The main criteria I'm using is that it's my listings and I can choose to be as complete as I want to be, while still maintaining a general level of quality completeness. Criteria #2's consists of whether the character in question looks like a Muppet or not, and to that end if the character feels like a Muppet also. As an example of this last point, Ma Otter, Gretchen Fox, and the kids from Frogtown Hollow may not look like Muppets, but they fit in with the general feel that they are Muppets.
The Wubulous World of Dr. Seuss has been excluded from my consideration, cause not only do these characters look nor feel like Muppets, but they belong to a Universe classification of their own under that of their own creator Theodore Ted Geisel.
Farscape got excluded cause the creatures and characters there are clearly not Muppets, and the clip of Sesame Street seen in a Season 4 episode was only there as peripheral material being watched on a TV screen and not directly interacting with the SS characters themselves.
By that token the droids from Star Wars could be included too cause they interacted with the SS characters, but the droids belong to a Universe classification of their own also.
Dinosaurs got excluded cause these characters are in no way Muppets, at least not to me and the show fell into my own personal disfavor for personal reasons.
The movies Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Witches got excluded cause it's clear that none of these characters are Muppets and even Jim Henson explained that the characters from the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth weren't supposed to be seen as such, though there's a rully cool episode of Muppet Babies which integrates elements from both Labyrinth and Witches.
Since MuppetDude and Luke took time from their schedules to contribute the names and descripts of the characters from Bear in the Big Blue House and The Hoobs respectively, along with confirming that these characters do indeed look sufficiently like Muppets to be counted as such, I decided to thank them for their help by accepting the characters from both Henson productions into the listings.
Not sure if Mother Goose Stories and Animal Jam will have their respective characters included also, if you feel that strongly for or against them, make their cases here.
Everything else will get added: Emmet Otter, Christmas Toy, Bunny Picnic, Follow That Bird!, Elmo in Grouchland, Ghost of Faffner Hall, and other such specials.
As of right now Moppatops is in a state of suspension or limbo until I persue that particular avenue, and Sam and Friends will be added after I research any good sites with full listings of its characters.
Oh, and don't forget to go to the "Muppet Listings 8.0" thread and see if there are any other characters still missing or not listed. Every bit of info helps.
Thanks for listening to my dissrotation and have a good day.

1. So the characters from BIBBH you gave were from specials? Did they all appear in episodes of the show which were then elevated to the category of specials by being released on DVD?
2 Never knew about the reasoning behind both the Christmas Toy and the Tale of the Bunny Picnic. Since I saw the Tale of the Bunny Picnic on Nickelodeon, which took to showing the various specials connected to JHH during the early 90's when I still had better sight but not called JHH, I naturally thought that Tale of the Bunny Picnic was part of JHH. But it's entirely possible that it wasn't, in any case those characters would've been next on my list of additions.
3 Since you brought it up, if you could, please help by providing a list of the named characters from Tale of the Bunny Picnic. Descripts to tell who's who would be nice as well, but if you don't have them, it'll be understood so long as you send in the names.
4 Did you see the two episodes of JHH detailed on www.toughpigs.com or did you learn of them after reading through said transcripts much like myself? If you have indded watched those two episodes, then please visit a thread I started here called "Questions about Jim Henson Hour" where I asked about a certain batch of characters.
Any help with the above will be greatly appreciated and will go a looong way towards improving my listings. Thanks for your help and have a good day.

1. I'm not sure. I found out they were from a special according to an article from Muppet Central. They might be from the TV series, too, since it's in two parts, and both parts have a theme song and ending credits.

2. Glad to help. Incidentally, if you want any more descriptions of characters from other specials (i.e.: Emmet Otter, Christmas Toy), post me here and I'll give you a detailed list whenever I can (I got lots of free time, and next week I get half the week off, so I can work on them.)

3. As soon as I read this message, I set out to give you a list of names and descriptions of the Muppet cast in "Bunny Picnic". I assume that you already know what Bean looks like, so the rest of the bunnies are based on that kind of Muppet construction.

And now, the list!:

(NOTE: All of the bunnies have a little tuft of fur on their head between their ears, like Bean.

LUGSY--Bean's big brother; he's brown with a white line that goes down from his forehead to his belly. He has a pink nose, a white tail, moving eyelids, and wears a green jacket with a square pattern on it, and also wears a red necktie with white polka-dots

TWITCH--Bean's big sister; she's white and has a bit more hair/feathers on her head (not really longer, it sort of collects around the back of her ears). She has a pink nose, and wears a yellow dress decorated with dark speckles, and has puffy, short sleeves.

BABBLE--She's light brown with tan hair that's a bit longer than the others and surrounds the lower half of her ears. She has a pink nose, and wears a blue/white checkered sleeveless dress and a blue/white checkered bow in her hair, in front of her right ear.

SNORT--(Possibly David Rudman's first Muppet) Babble's big brother. He's honey-colored with some feathers in his hair a bit long. He has a pink nose, and has a white line tnat goes from between his eyes to his nose. He wore a light blue short-sleeved shirt and brown pants with suspenders.

BULBOUS--Grey, with floppy ears and sleepy eyes. His fur is shorter around his off-white muzzle, and his muzzle and pink nose are also a bit bigger than the other bunnies. He wore a tan turtleneck shirt.

MOTHER--Bean's mother; she's off-white, and has lashes. Her muzzle is a bit smaller and has a pink nose. She wears a dark pink dress with puffy sleeves and a white collar/ cuffs. Her cheeks have a bit of pink in them.

FATHER--Bean's father; brownish-grey with slightly-droopy ears. He has a grey moustache under his pink nose, and has small eyebrows. He wears a white shirt with vertical lines, a blue vest, and a red bowtie.

BABY--Bean's baby sister; she doesn't have a name, but is white, wears a pink shirt, and only has one tooth (she's very adorable)

GREAT-GRANDMOTHER--great-great-great-great grandmother of Bean; she's gray with an off-white muzzle, with no teeth and she's built with a squint in her eyes. She has a pinkish-grey nose, and wears a lavendar cap (her ears are curled inside and it makes her look like a mouse), a dress with a flower-design, and wears two pairs of bifocals (and carrys a third). She wears a yellow shawl around her arms and the back of her skirt.

STORYTELLER--light brown; He has sleepy eyes, and wears a straw hat with a red ribbon and feathers on it (his ears come out of it). He wears a green jacket and blue pants, both with several patches on them. He also wears a yellow/orange checkered shirt and a marroon neck-kerchief.

BE-BOP--he's gray, with a slightly long snout, floppy ears, and a greyish-pink nose. He wears sunglasses, has very short brown hair, and wears a lavendar jacket with vertical white stripes, as well as a blue necktie.

MAYOR BUNNYPARTE--a chubby gray rabbit with a white snout, floppy ears, and pink nose. He wears an off-brown jacket and slacks, both with square designs. He wears a brown derby, brown necktie, white shirt, and blue vest. He wears a golden medal around his neck.

DOG--Thin, tan fur, with a longish-snout (with a black nose), and has floppy ears that are able to jerk up, like his tan eyebrow. He wears a brown collar and his tongue flops out of his mouth, and also has a long tail, along with small black eyes with brown detail around them. At the end of the special, Be-Bop decides to name him "DE-DOP-DE-DIDDLEY-DOG-BOP"

FARMER--full-body "costume" character designed to look like a Muppet human, with brown boots, olive pants w/suspenders, and he also wears a blue shirt with a white undershirt. He wears a green hat with a floppy rim around it, and has frizzy red hair and moustache. His skin is sort of a reddish-peach color, and his sleepy eyes are under his hat.

4. I read the two JHH episodes from the Tough Pigs website.

Hi MuppetDude, thanks for posting the list of characters from TOBP (as I'm designating the Tale of the Bunny Picnic, if you have any better suggestions for abbreviating the Henson production let me know.) Here are the other questions/favors I'd hope you could help me out with.
1 Please provide descriptions of the characters from Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, along with their names so I know who's who. Basically, I'm interested in learning what animals each character is and the animals/names of the members of the Riverbottom Nightmare Band.
2 Please provide descriptions of the characters from The Christmas Toy, along with their names so I know who's who. This would be welcome help, since it would be one more step towards completing the planned updates and bring Muppet Listings V.9 online the sooner.
3 Please go to the "Questions about Jim Henson Hour" thread and confirm whether the names of the characters listed therein are actual characters who appeared in the Science Fiction and Monsterthon episodes of JHH. Also, if you could, please provide descriptions attached to the names so I know who's who.
Thanks for all of your invalueable help, and have a haunted night!

Dude!! MuppetDude!! Where have you been?!? Yes, please send me those character names and descripts ASAP! Already got the listings on line with what you already provided, and the cast from Emmet Otter but I'm always interested in learning if there's someone I left or more about the characters already listed. Please either post your helpful list of character names and descripts here or send them to me via E-mail. Thanks for the help, hope to hear again from you soon, and have a haunted weekend.
