What is the history of the muppets?

like.. which muppets came first? what dates where each new muppet introduced?

Can of worms? why is that? isn't it just a matter of history? how could that be contravercial in any way?

Well, not all Muppets sprang to life fully formed. In the case of Gonzo, for instance, the first puppet was first used in 1970, but the character associated with that puppet design debuted in 1976.

Go and buy "Jm Henson The Works" by Christopher Finch there you can read about the history.

Clifford: The Jim Henson Hour, 1989
Andy and Randy: Some fairy tale thing, 1990s
Pepe, Seymour, Johnny Fiama, Sal: Muppets Tonight, 1996

goodness, I am way out of the loop on these things.. Some of those charactures I don't even recognize the names of :frown: hah, It's obveous that I'm a youngster with no clue what i'm talking about, since more then half of those dates were before I was even born... the muppets take manhattan was in 1984??!?! goodness.. that was when I was born... I thought that movie was from the 90's! good greef, I have a LOT to learn... where could I find "Jm Henson The Works" ?
